This has resulted in lower end stock and a reduction in markdowns. “We have reduced stock by 20 percent and markdowns by 5 to 10 percent,” Brand said. During the recession in Europe, when other retailers suffered and the market declined by 8 percent, WE was able to increase its margins and sales levels. “This success was in part due to i2 Merchandise Planner because it provided the buyers with the insight to reduce budget figures and stock in time,” Brand said.
