Commercial aircraft manufacturer AIRBUS was challenged with creating operating efficiencies to offset the decline in travel worldwide. Through its Sup@irWorld initiative, AIRBUS can provide a web-based collaborative environment for the company and its suppliers to drive significant performance and financial benefits throughout the supply chain.

Using i2’s solutions for Supply Chain Management and Supplier Relationship Management, AIRBUS now has enhanced its view of its supplier base, consolidating supplier data from multiple ERP systems. AIRBUS’ suppliers can now collaborate more effectively on forecasts, purchase orders, advanced shipment notices, and get invoice status – enabling improvements in delivery performance, reduced manufacturing costs, and improved levels of customer service. As a result, AIRBUS is targeting lead time and cost reduction as well as inventory optimization.

Known for its Panasonic and National brands of consumer electronics, Matsushita Electric Industrial Company was faced with increasing demands from its overseas retail partners. To date, Matsushita has deployed i2’s SCM solutions successfully across 37 sites located in Japan, North America, and Europe.

Matsushita achieved significant success with i2. For example, the company reports i2’s ability of rapid constraint-based re-planning enabled Matsushita’s factories to provide an ATP response to the sales companies and partners within 48 hours in North America and Europe. In the audio products for the North American market, Matsushita reduced average company inventory levels significantly. And last year the company successfully cut inventory levels while sales increased.

As a leader in the highly competitive home appliance industry, Whirlpool Corporation is continually challenged to reduce finished goods inventory and trim freight and warehousing costs, while maintaining or improving product availability.

Just one aspect of Whirlpool's supply chain strategy involves the daily re-execution of its planning process, covering the production of 1,800 SKUs at 10 manufacturing facilities and the deployment of those SKUs to more than 50,000 SKU/locations. Whirlpool runs its entire North American supply chain planning business utilizing i2 solutions exclusively. Whirlpool reports the use of i2 solutions has enabled the company to consistently maintain record-low levels of finished goods inventory and keep product availability at the highest level ever attained by the company, exceeding the goals initially set for the transformation.
